This exceptional cello was made by Bernhard Simon Fendt I between 1798 and 1809 when he worked for Thomas Dodd in Covent Garden. The cello has a rich, generous tone and an even, quick response. The condition is outstanding. Certificates from Rembert Wurlitzer 1958 and W E Hill & Sons 1944.

Bernhard Simon Fendt I (1769-1832) was born in Germany and moved to London in 1798 to work alongside J F Lott in the workshop of Thomas Dodd, where he worked until 1809 and during which period this cello was made. A gifted craftsman, his cellos are particularly prized.
