Cell
o Specialists

Aitchison & Mnatzaganian are dedicated cello specialists.  We provide cellists with a unique and comprehensive service, focusing our expertise on every aspect of cello care:

Stock of fine cellos.
We offer fine cellos for sale.  Robin Aitchison also takes commissions for new instruments, which are closely studied copies of fine originals.

Stock of cello bows.  We have a wide ranging stock of antique and contemporary cello bows available, with prices ranging from £250 to £4,000.  Our latest exhibition, Take a Bow 2008 raised £4,654 for the International Pernambuco Conservation Initiative.

Cello Exchange Service.
For players throughout the world wishing to sell their instrument, we offer a Cello Exchange Service.  For more details: Cello exchange and Cellos for sale

Sound Adjustment
.  Cellists travel from across Europe to work on  set-up and sound adjustment with Robin, who transforms the sound of their instruments through work on the bridge, sound post and strings.

String Trials.  We offer a unique string trial service.  After an initial assessment of the instrument's set up, Robin fits a succession of strings and advises the player as they test strings.  String trials also include a full check up of each instrument’s set up.  The cost is £50 (free to full time students in higher education).

Cello Care Guide.
In 2005 we published a a free 24 page illustrated booklet showing how to safely care for both cello and bow.  To order up to ten free copies (UK only) click here.

News for Cellists.
Three times a year we publish a newsletter for cellists which includes specialist articles, news updates and information about future events and publications, plus selected instrument and bow stock lists.  If you would like to receive a regular copy of this newsletter, please contact us stating whether you would like us to send email or paper versions.
