Matthew Sharp plays in Hora Din Budesti from ZRI’s latest album – Schubert’s C Major Quintet – reimagined to sound as radical as when it was first written. Bursting with gypsy and Hungarian themes, it is here rescored to include clarinet, santouri (cimbalom) and accordion. With the aid of the folky timbre of these instruments, the original music is interleaved with traditional tunes, creating a hypnotically energetic hybrid.
